Section Cross Over 2022

Also known as the “Arrow of Light” or the “Moving” Ceremony

This accomplishment takes place when a Scout completes his/her journey in a section and moves to a higher section to gain more experiences and responsibilities.

The preparation

Instead of “Traditional Protocol Ceremony”, this year we tried something completely new.

The Famous “A” by Ewout !

We always wondered “how the other Scout Group in Mauritius or abroad celebrate this event?”

However, this year we have this opportunity to met Ewout from Netherlands Scouts. He introduced us to their method by basing more on the emotional aspect of the youth during this transition.

Our new 6PL’s woggles!

With the help of our fellow Leaders and involvement of the scouts. We introduced new kind of “Woggles” to be wore by sections respectively.

The Woggles Fishing Game

As part of the ceremony and before proceeding to the “A”. Using a self-made fishing rod, scouts need to fish new their “Woggles” as require to the new section

The tilt of the “A”

After obtaining their respective woggles. The Scouts must, one by one pass through the “A” shaped as a key moment of transition. During this exceptional swing, the Scouts of the new section welcome the newcomers by holding the rope. In additional, the leaders of the respective sections take the opportunity to place some words, congratulations on the promoted ones.

The Welcoming and Promise Renewal

To conclude this wonderful day. We welcomed our dear friend Ewout from the Netherlands Scout and offered him our neckerchief as a souvenir. We also took this opportunity to thank him for his devotion in the organization of the day.
